Legendary heavy psych, afro-rock 1973 debut LP by Nigerian wonder kids Ofege. Recorded while the band members were still in high school, Try And Love is overflowing with great songs, sweet harmonies, and relentless psychedelic guitars.

Ofege Biography

The 1970s school boy musical band from St. Gregory’s College, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos. Nigeria’s most outstanding school boy band of all time! Largely influenced by the guitar solos of Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Francis Rossi, and the criss-cross rhythms of Osibisa. At home they were influenced by the music of ‘BLO’ (Berkley Jones, Laolu Akins and Mike Odumosu), ‘Monomono’ (led by Joni Haastrup), The Funkees, and Ofo The Black Company.

Великолепная нигерийская группа образовалась в 1972 году как школьный ансамбль в St. Gregory’s College, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos. Отличная музыка - смесь фанка, психоделии и непередаваемая фуззующая гитара на первом альбоме. И всё это сделано 15-17 летними парнями. Первый альбом вышел зимой 1973-74 года и в разных источниках, пишут то один, то второй год. Альбом надолго возглавил списки популярности не только в Нигерии, но и во всей Африке. Альбом больше всего напомнил Сантану с африканскими ритмами. В конце 1974 вышел второй альбом группы который был принят не хуже первого, хотя, на мой взгляд, музыка стала более заоркестрованной. А после … родители запретили. Пацанам надо было заканчивать колледж и следующий альбом вышел только в 1977 году, но было уже время немного другой музыки и выпустив через год последний альбом группа распалась.
