    Led Zeppelin is the 1969 debut album by British hard rock band Led Zeppelin. This is the first compact disc pressing on Atlantic released in 1987 and is "un-remastered". This CD is also a Columbia Record House pressing, and is signified by the A2- prefix in the catalog number.
    I believe this was the first version released on CD, there was no target release for it. As you can see, the cover has yellow lettering, and omits the Atlantic and "Stereo" logos. Reason? I think labels wanted to make the covers look less like their vinyl counterparts and removed anything that would make it look like an "album cover". That's my guess. Nonetheless, this version was released a few years later by the remastered version, approved by Jimmy Page.

    Some feel this "un-remastered" version is the best, since it is the closest to the original master tape as released and heard back in 1969. People seek this version because they they are "flat transfers" of existing master tapes, and they want "that sound". Even if there are any slight improvements, it's the original or nothing.
