Joe Egan - Out Of Nowhere (1979) CD Release 2016

Joe Egan shot to fame as partner with Gerry Rafferty in Stealers Wheel and jointly wrote "Stuck In The Middle With You" as well as writing "Star". The band broke up in 1975 and he commenced work on his solo album "Out Of Nowhere" which was not released until 1979 because he was contractually not obliged to release any recordings for three years after Stealers Wheel split up. "Out Of Nowhere" was produced by Grammy nominated songwriter and producer David Courtney who said "The album reflected where Joe was at this time of life and career following on from his split with Gerry Rafferty which I felt was evident in some of his lyrics. Joe was a dream artist to produce". A classic album now available for the first time on CD.

I remember buying this great album in 1980 when it was first released and It sounds just as good now as it did then! Its has been remastered to an excellent standared, good packaging, good sleeve notes and good pics of joe at the time of release. There are no extra tracks on the cd but this cd does not need any because each track is a real gem. Track 1 Back on the road,a beautifully melodic track which scored a minor hit in 1980 which i have heard on steve wrights bbc radio 2 show. Track 10 out of nowhere the tittle track a real beautiful gem, with its distant fade intro at the start gives me the shiver factor plus it has lovely harmonies at the end fade out! Other high lights are Natural High, The Last Farewell which i think was a song for the late great Gerry Rafferty when stealers wheel split, other tracks Freeze, Pride, No time for sorrow and leave it all behind. If you like good singer song writer albums this is for you! A bit country a bit rock and a bit pop, This is the making of a very under rated and a very excellent cd and i highly recommend you guys to buy it, Big thanks to Joe Egan for realeasing it again maybe Maps next?
