Jacqueline Du Pre - The Sound Of Jacqueline Du Pre (4CDs, 2012)

In the 25th anniversary year of her death, EMI Classics pays tribute to British cellist Jacquline du Pre with the release of this luxury box set. Du Pre brought such searing intensity and radiant joy to her cello playing that, despite a career that was tragically curtailed by multiple sclerosis, continues to impact musicians today.
The Sound of Jacqueline du Pre is a collection of her finest recordings. The 4-CD, bundled in a beautifully packaged box, includes her spirited interpretation of the Haydn Cello Concerto in C and the first movement of Boccherini’s Cello Concert in B flat – two masterpieces of the Classical era. The complete performance of the first of Brahms’s Cello Sonatas, a work that du Pre brings vividly to life, together with her pianist partner and husband, Daniel Barenboim is also included in the collection.
