December 2001 will go into AOR history as the month Spanish AOR bands released their Classic debut CDs. First off we have GOLDEN FARM, a fantastic new AOR band out of Madrid, and their debut CD 'Angel's tears' is maybe one of the best Spanish releases ever! The band has released their CD on the famous AVISPA RECORDS, a Spanish label that released a lot of records in the 80s of Spanish bands. Now the label has returned and one of their latest releases is the fantastic debut CD of GOLDEN FARM. I can guarantee you that the 12 songs on this band's debut CD are very impressive pure AOR songs in the style of ROXUS, JAMES CHRISTIAN, early FM, STAN BUSH AND BARRAGE, and the band has a very good lead singer (Toni Menguiano).

Besides, the sound and production quality is from a very high level, this band is as good as (or much better than) anything labels like FRONTIERS en MTM have released the past few months, and as those labels also released many great albums, then you will understand how good this GOLDEN FARM really is. Opener "I can't tell you" shows rightaway that we have to deal here with a high quality AOR band, because this first song is a fantastic classic uptempo AOR rocker (with great keyboardplay) a la SURVIVOR, the first FM and STAN BUSH AND BARRAGE. This is totally pure AOR and the whole CD continues in this same Classic 80s AOR style and you definitely can't hear any difference with the English and American AOR bands, as these guys don't have any accent (which so many people say about foreign bands playing AOR).

Anyway, the CD continues with the great AOR ballad "Tears of loving", a song that sounds like a cross between ROXUS and JAMES CHRISTIAN. The hookladen "Fire and ice" is up next and is yet another classy AOR song a la STAN BUSH AND BARRAGE. And the album just goes on in this Classic AOR HEAVEN style, with such perls like "Everything sometimes" (lovely midtempo AOR a la BAD ENGLISH, STREET TALK), "Time after time" (great AOR ballad a la CHINA SKY), "All I want" (classic AOR a la ROXUS, SIGNAL) and closing track "When the morning sun" (fantastic Power AOR ballad a la DARE, with a really beautiful chorus). My favourite songs are "I need your love" (superb classic 80s AOR like SHOOTING STAR meets SURVIVOR) and "I want to know" (lovely classic Power AOR ballad a la GIANT, TEN, ALIAS, a very emotional song).

Actually the whole CD is classic AOR, only the songs "All night long" and "Why these years" (both melodic rockers a la DOKKEN) and "They say" (still great strong midtempo progressive melodic rocker a la 80s MALMSTEEN) showed a less AOR type of style, but in general speaking this GOLDEN FARM is a Classic AOR band. They come from Spain and very soon you can read an interview with them, and also with the other new Sensational Spanish AOR bands .
