"ACROSS THE ISLES" was recorded by the trio Gentle Spirits: Three experienced musicians dissolve the boundaries between folk and baroque music in their repertoire and their interpretations and cultivate a non-historicizing approach to the compositions. They instrument and arrange the timeless melodies with percussive elements fresh and new - and bring them so for a modern audience in the present day.
The ensemble was founded in Göttingen and unites musicians from Germany and the Netherlands. Flutist Elke Hardegen-Düker, lutenist and guitarist Andreas Düker and percussionist Job Verweijen have been successfully pursuing their solo careers and have been performing together in the Ensemble Gentle Spirits for many years - creating an independent, cosmopolitan and poetic music beyond all genres. Their special sense for melodious play, tender emotions and percussion sounds from different cultures transforms historical music into a new boundless listening experience. In doing so, the musicians tie in with the great baroque composers - they, too, were inspired by folk tunes. The title "Ye gentle spirits of the air" from the opera "The Fairy Queen" by Henry Purcell has inspired the ensemble's name: Gent-le Spirits - Friendly Spirits.
Natural spatiality meets the highest sound resolution in the world Like all the productions of the friends of green sonic label, the album was created using the PANTOFONIE® recording process - "live" without an audience, without overdubs and mixing. A special artificial head creates a 3D listening experience that makes the music seem spatial and lively, just like in a concert hall - even on two conventional loudspeakers. The self-developed sound recorder named "clàr" offers the world's highest sound resolution. The result: a completely new musical life - a natural, authentic sound with a spatiality and resolution that touches with the finest details.
Inspiring and elaborate booklet The new album "ACROSS THE ISLES" is as elaborate as it is used to from productions of the label friends of green sonic: The inspiring and extensive 58-page booklet in German and English with breathtaking photos immediately leaves longing for blue-green color world of Ireland, Scotland and England and tell of the composer, the works, the musicians and the recording technique used. The internationally active label offers the album as high-resolution downloads up to 352.8 kHz / 24 bits. friends of green sonic thus lives up to its claim again: excellent music for today's audience in the world's best sound - and this in the guise of a Gesamtkunstwerk.
