Errors - How Clean Is Your Acid House? [EP] (2006)

Nestled amongst the Mogwai-run Rock Action roster, Glasgow art-school-dancefloor-types Errors are the latest group to fuse the aesthetics of post-rock, electronica and Ye Olde indie; with the resultant noise captured on their debut LP 'How Clean Is Your Acid House?'. Whilst the likes of 65daysofstatic and Cut Copy have already delivered a couple of sterling albums that mine this particular seam of sonic juxtaposition, Errors are approaching from a different compass point - shoving the electronica to front of house, whilst the rock stylings get busy out back. Despite it's shoddy title, Errors don't have a preoccupation with tickling your funny-bone (unless you count track names 'Dizzee Rascal + 1' and 'Songos Ya Mongos!' the height of hilarity) - with their music delivering concentrated bursts of eclectic goodness which belies its time spent in Mogwai's Castle of Doom studio. Opening with the sinister 'Mr Milk', Errors allow an almost glam-electro beat to get up close and personal with a blister pack of glitchtronica and all manner of star-gazing soundscapes, with the combined build-up and epic close a genuine treat that won't spoil your appetite. Elsewhere, 'Terror Tricks' is a more subdued beast, favouring vocodored solipsism and acid-frayed beats, 'Crew Cut' gives the instrumentation a moment of free-wheeling spotlight, whilst 'Dizzee Rascal + 1' is a tarnished smear of tape+piano crackle.
