    Original score from the 2021 drama feature film directed by Richie Adams, starring Hermione Corfield, Mark Gatiss and Morven Christie, produced by Sheridan Road Productions, Uinta Productions and Wind Chill Media Groups, released by Parkland Entertainment (UK).
    THE STORY: A young girl lives in the Outer Hebrides in a small village in the years just before WWI. Isolated and hard by the shore , her life takes a dramatic change when a terrible tragedy befalls her.
    THE SCORE: “Every film has its unique musical challenges and this one was no exception. The story needed to be handled so very delicately. The vistas and setting are sweeping and yet there is an intimacy about the film that could not be ignored. Finding the balance was a main focus. The performances are so strong and we had to really just trust them. I’m so very proud of this score. Richie Adams is so committed to authenticity as a director and we have really developed an incredible shorthand over the years. We speak the same language. He wanted the score to feel like the heartbeat of the island and the people and I felt a responsibility to do my homework and seek out the proper musicians. One in particular that I must mention is Alasdair White. Working with Alasdair was one of the great joys of writing this score. He’s a world class fiddle and whistle player from the Isle of Lewis, where are our story takes place. He’s so connected to the musical traditions of the Hebrides and he was invaluable to the sound of the score. I was able to collaborate with him during my writing process which was truly a privilege and so inspiring.” – Carlos José Alvarez
    THE COMPOSER: Carlos José Alvarez’s dynamic versatility is evident through his expanding body of work. His first composing break came in 2009 with his acclaimed score to the supernatural-thriller Deadline, starring Brittany Murphy and Thora Birch, and released by MovieScore Media. Since then, the emerging composer has scored numerous feature films including the award winning sci-fi thriller The Quiet Hour (Dakota Blue Richards), romantic comedy Inventing Adam, the critically acclaimed documentary Cubamerican (Andy Garcia and Steven Bauer).
