By publishing this selection from his archive of rare historical recordings of music from the Serbian Orthodox Church the world-renowned authority on music Arsenije Jovanovic hopes to prevent the destruction of the precious musical frescoes of his native land. The Ensemble Rukovet, which is no longer active, was a mixed choir of music students. The choir of nuns recorded in 1963 during a mass in the monastery of Ljubostinja was made up of women from the local population.
