Adam Baldwin - Songs for the Parlour (2021)

For the first time since July, Dartmouth singer-songwriter Adam Baldwin invites fans to enjoy a free Cross-Country Chin Up livestream show for one night only on Saturday, April 17.

Baldwin will be back in the Sonic Temple Studio to play two sets at 9 p.m., to mark the release of his new all-covers EP Songs for the Parlour, which hits streaming services on April 9. The show will be viewable at sonicconcerts.com.

In 2020, with no live shows on the horizon, Baldwin did 15 Cross-Country Chin Up shows on his YouTube channel, and performed a full-band finale show in July. While the shows allowed him to stay connected to his fans and flex his musical muscles, it also helped raise funds for a number of worthwhile causes, like the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia and the Black Cultural Society for Nova Scotia.

Songs for the Parlour follows 2020’s Chin Up Sessions EP, with seven diverse songs that have also found their way into Cross-Canada Chin Up shows. It will be available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, among other services.

“Some years back, a friend of mine opened a bar on Halifax’s waterfront. The place came with a piano. Any chance I could take to get a few free pints, sing some songs, and head home with some coin from a tip jar, I’d happily indulge,” says Baldwin.

“As much as I enjoy playing rock 'n' roll to late-night revellers, there’s nothing like sitting down for two hours and reimagining other folk’s songs that I’ve come to love over the years. These songs are mainstays of what I like to call my weekend lounge act.”
