Arranged primarily on lo-bit microchip computers, handheld gaming devices and consoles, a new generation of musicians inspired by early video games has turned these systems into new musical instruments. Now the same sounds heard in classic video games have been re-tooled to perform highly innovative, sound-stretching, mind-bending, heart-thumping versions of legendary Kraftwerk songs.
8-Bit Operators es uno de los grupos que últimamente estan destacando en el estilo musical denominado “chiptune”. El chiptune es un estilo músical electrónico que se basa en estar producido y/o sintetizado por un ordenador en tiempo real, es decir un chip de sonido, y se caracteriza porque sus samples suelen ser menores de 4 kilobytes y que suelen estar “loopeados” en algún tracker. Lo que en resumidas cuentas quiere decir que es musica creada con chips tan “potentes” como una game boy, un spectrum o cualquier microordenador o consola de los 80.
