VA - Once Upon a Time: The Musical Episode (Original Television Soundtrack) (2017)

I thoroughly enjoyed Once Upon a Time's musical episode. I immediately had the songs stuck in my head, so I had to purchase all of them to satisfy my head. I was so impressed by everyone's singing. I had no idea they had musical talent. My favorite is Captain Hook's song–I loved the lyrics, execution, and humor. My least favorite was Emma's–but I think that because I felt the link to that song in her childhood to her parents and then to present, was weak. I also didn't care for the Queen, Snow, and Charming mash-up. But the rest of the songs make-up for it.

I disagree with a previous reviewer in regards to the queen's songs being the worst–I absolutely loved Regina's lyrics and thought the rough sound was intentional… She is a bad guy, after all. When I hear her songs, I immediately visualize her choreography, and together they were perfect. And it was another case of wonderful lyrics–I was laughing all during her songs.

My only complaint is that some of the songs' tunes sound very familiar. I can't put my finger on it, but it wasn't enough to impact my enjoyment of this album. I want another musical episode so badly now, but I am not going to hold my breath. ~ by Marie Scotts
