The Nordic Christmas has nothing to do with pomp and kitsch, abundance and great gestures. She is family and traditional, draws her power from silence. Contemplation and concentration determines the most beautiful time of the year in the Scandinavian countries. And their music is a reflection of this quiet and intimate mood: whoever has fallen for the special musical charm of Scandinavian Christmas can now celebrate "Nordic Christmas" with Tore Brunborg and Kjetil Bjerkestrand. Not in a big cast, but in the unusual and intimate duo of saxophone and church organ. Almost magically, Tore Brunborg's unmistakably warm tone and Kjetil Bjerkestrands merge just as singular organ sounds, which use all the stops.

The 57-year-old Brunborg has proved to be a formidable sideman with the most important "typical" Norwegian jazzmen like Jon Christensen and Nils Petter Molvaer, but also with stars such as Manu Katché and Pat Metheny made a name for himself until 2015 with his ACT debut "Slow Snow" finally came into the limelight himself. Kjetil Bjerkestrand worked for a long time as a church chancellor until he discovered the organ as an instrument of improvisation and also became a composer, arranger and producer. For several years he worked with Dee Dee Bridgewater, wrote arrangements for Ray Charles, and then recorded several albums with pop group a-ha. He also worked successfully as a film musician, the soundtrack for the filming of the Astrid Lindgren children's book classics "Karlsson on the roof" originates from him.

These experiences are audible when the two can conjure up Christmas in a typical Scandinavian atmosphere: with music, which is peculiar between tradition and modernity, between classical music and jazz, and in which the harsh Norwegian winter landscape, on the one hand, Swedish artist Carl Larsson, have come to life with their uniquely drawn family parties dipped in warm light.
