No need to introduce Yann Tiersen well known for his Amélie Poulain and Good bye Lenin Soundracks.Shannon Wright, on the other hand, is just being discovered but is already known for her highly emotional records (4 albums released by Touch & Go, produced by Steve Albini), as well as for hard-nosed performances. Entirely written, composed and recorded within 20 days, this record is a pure marvel and is produced by Fabrice Laureau (already sound technician for “L’absente” and producer of François Breut, Dirty 3, nif Trio, among others). Pure wonder of sensibility, simply moving.
From the startling “No Mercy for she” to the more rock “Dried sea” ; from the romantic “Something to live for” to the light “Sound the bells”, this album is without contest the surprise of this year’s autumn. Shannon Wright and Yann Tiersen share the same sensibility and sense of propriety, giving birth to these 10 luminous and fragile tracks.

Ce disque est l'histoire d'une rencontre. Celle d'une chanteuse songwriter américaine et de Yann Tiersen, musicien brestois écorché vif aux notes belles, simples et fragiles qui par la grâce de deux succès cinématographiques planétaires s'est retrouvé propulsé en haut d'affiches peut-être trop voyantes pour lui : celles de Good Bye Lenine et surtout du Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, ses millions de spectateurs et sa BO césarisée… Rencontre avec l'américaine Shannon Wright, donc, loin des plateaux de cinéma et du glamour hollywoodien, l'ex-chanteuse indie-rock a profité d'une rupture de contrat avec une maison de disques pour se retrouver une âme folk en Caroline du Nord. Et ce disque lumineux, écrit à quatre mains chez le français dans l'intimité d'un studio parisien, fera patienter les amoureux de Yann tiersen jusqu'à son nouvel album solo, annoncé pour l'année prochaine.
