    The Old Prospectors formed in late 2015 from some shared connections around the local Riverwest scene and music community. With influences across the broad spectrums of funk and psych rock, the first informal jam sessions materialized into more complex compositions. Writing songs without vocals pushed the band to draw from strong progressive rock influences while leaving room for improvisation.

    Throughout their four years together, they have kept busy with regular gigs and a handful of fruitful projects that continue to influence the musical direction (and sense of humor) of the band. During their time together, members of the Old Prospectors have collaborated with other musicians across Milwaukee on Black Sabbath cover shows, mockumentary-rockumentary film projects, and even a few one-off wedding gigs. Dahl also plays with Astral Hand (formerly known as Calliope).

    Positive momentum has been growing over the past few years as the band has shared bills with Mdou Moctar, JjuuJjuu, Tauk, and King Buffalo. This fall, they headlined the final Ulao Creek Music Festival and closed out the fourth annual Funktoberfest in Rubicon. Their ambitious first full-length album, Eureka! becomes available in November. The Old Prospectors are very excited to finally get this piece of music out into the world and to get back into the studio for more.
