Brazz Bros. entered the arena of Norwegian jazz music in 1982. Untraditional in style and repertoir the group soon earned a reputation of a high class perfomer in its art. Todays immence popularity is a product of hard work and through professional conduct. Brazz Bros. emerged as a brass quintet consisting of two "sets" of brothers, the Foerdes and the Tafjords. All five are graduates, either from the Trondheim Conservatory of Music or the Norwegian State Academy of Music. Since 1986 the Swedish, Norwegian born drummer, Egil "Bop" Johansen has been a regular member of the band. Egil, highly respected with a name known to most jazz musicians far outside Europe constitutes the last member of the present sextet.
