Tele is a German Rock/Pop-band from Freiburg (now Berlin). Tele produced their debut album 1001 Verdacht themselves in 2000. At first they played typical Indie rock guitar sound and arranged their songs in a post rock way.

The record company Tapete Records from Hamburg distributed their album in 2002 and published an EP with five newe songs. Tapete Records publish the second album Wovon sollen wir leben in 2004, too. This album contains mainly German pop songs with background stories in the texts. In the majority of cases the texts deal with the individual every day life, often with respect to their love affairs.

The music by tele sound very much like that of the 1980s, but does not seem to be forced retro-style. This is due to the use of keyboard-arrangements and synthesizer-wind instruments

Both their second album Wovon sollen wir leben (p. October 2004) and their third Album Wir brauchen nichts was produced by the producer and sound engineer Patrik Majer, which also arranged the productions for the band Wir sind Helden.

In June 2006, shortly before the completion of the third album, Tele executed a tour through Africa (South Africa, Mosambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tansania, Zanzibar und Madagascar) by order of the Goethe-Institut. In October 2007 Tele played (with the Berlin Band MIA.) on behalf of the Goethe-Institut again, this time in China (Nanjing).

On 9 February 2007 Tele represented the state Baden-Württemberg at the Bundesvision Song Contest with the song Mario and achieved rank 10 after viewer voting per telephone.

Judith Holofernes sings the background vocals in two songs on the 2004s album. wikipedia
