'Tempo' is the meeting of renowned Brazilian pianist and singer Tania Maria and legendary bass player Eddie Gomez, who create an amazing mix of Brazilian music and jazz.

'Tempo' is he 27th album from acclaimed Brazilian pianist and vocalist Tania Maria and is released after periods recording for Concord and Blue Note. After 36 years performing and recording and by way of such runaway hits as "Piquant", "Come With Me" and "Made In New York", Tania Maria stands out as one of the truly great talents on the Brazilian music scene, where she is known for her unmistakable voice, whose sultry low tones can lay down a serious groove, and for her percussive touch at the piano, where things can suddenly take a more classical turn. An accomplished musician who, though always attracted to swing and jazz, has never forgotten the fundamental beats of her native choro and samba.

Eddie Gomez is one of the finest bassists in jazz history, having spent a total of 11 years performing as part of the Bill Evans trio. He has played with many of the greatest names in jazz, including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Gerry Mulligan, Michael Brecker and Wayne Shorter.
