Review:
This is just my cup of tea, again. Drums, Bass, two horns, no piano. A little bit avantgarde, some post-bop, all with some blues thrown in for good measure.
Of course, the indiviual quality of the musicians is outstanding. But they also manage to play together as a unit. Simion may not be known to most of you, but in the first half of the 1990s, he established himself as one of the premier forces on the tenor saxophone. Just listen to his sound on Nicolas' Blues.
Don't know why he never got the recognition he deserves, for his ideas & skills are right up there with those of Lovano, Eskelin, Brötzmann etc. (by my)
