Reissue with the latest DSD remastering. Comes with liner notes. Sadao Watanabe hits a sweet fusiony groove – riding the Orange Express to LA, and picking up some great Dave Grusin arrangements on the way! The album's got the sweetly soulful finish of others from the classic years of Japanese fusion – a style that's as much influenced by mainstream soul as it is by jazz – but which comes across with some top-shelf playing throughout, thanks to a lineup that includes George Benson, Bobby Broom, Eric Gale, Richard Tee, and Marcus Miller – not to mention Watanabe and Grusin themselves! Titles include "Orange Express", "Ride On", "Straight To The Top", "Mbali Africa", and "Bagamoyo/Zanzibar".

I just recently (make that today) found that Sadao Wantanabe's "How's Everything" CD was re-released on an import! If you love that CD, try this one! I was a Senior (just about to graduate from High School) when I picked the cassette up. I remember in the record store that Sadao's was the last cassette in the back of the Jazz Sax Artist section, as everyone at that time was into getting to know who this "New Kid" on the block playing stunning sax riffs with keyboard artist Jeff Lorber was! Of course now…we all know him as Kenny G! :^) Orange Express is so smooth, and since I play sax myself, I learned so much from just listening to his phrasing, expressions, that after 25+ years of playing it is a part of me! The title cut, "Orange Express" knocked me out when I first heard it, and I love hearing it especially as a meditation song to start a new day. or just chillin' out waiting for traffic to ease going to or from work! I still remember getting laughed at by my contemporaries because they never heard of Sadao Wantanabe! At least now, I won't have to worry about wearing the tape out; unless of course, I wear out new one I recorded from this CD to listen to in the car!
