S-Tone Inc. - Love Unlimited
For over ten years S-Tone Inc. has been Stefano Tirone's primary musical project. A musician from Milan who studied under Sonny Taylor and Antonio Zambrini, Mr. Tirone's first musical experiments date back to the new wave era of the early 80's. In the early 90's Stefano began working as a house and funk producer but quickly fell under the spell of the British acid jazz scene. It was acid jazz combined with his deep love of 70's soul and jazz music that laid the foundation of S-Tone Inc., a name under which he recorded the song "Get Freaky Now" in 1992 and received great praise in the UK. This also marked one of the earliest examples of Italian-made acid jazz.
His debut album "Love Unlimited" which was released in 1996 on the Milano 2000/Ishtar label contained the track "Ainda Sonhar", a forerunner of the nu bossa genre was included in countless compilations the world over.
In 1997, under the name Cosmorama, Stefan released the monothematic drum and bass project entitled "Space Odyssey", while in 2002, on the Schema/Ishtar label he released the third S-Tone Inc. album "Sobrenatural". In Sobrenatural Mr. Tirone refined his style of blending Brazilian, soul and jazz influences without forgetting the experiences that he'd had working with various Italian and British DJ's in the house scene.
His work has involved labels luch as Schema, Irma, Acid Jazz, and Centerstage. In 2004 he produced Brazilian artist Toco with an aim to revive the bossa nova tradition of the 60's with an updated taste. The French label Bonsaп Music released both "Sobrenatural" and "Instalaзгo Do Samba" by Toco.
2004 found Stefano Tirone producing the S-Tone Inc. album "Luz Y Sombra" in cooperation with various musicians from the Milan and Brazilian jazz scenes with the intention to take his sound in a more acoustic direction than his previous work, making a more discreet and minimal use of electronics.
