Fronting his eighth All-Starr Band, the cheerful singer and drummer brought new direction to a concept that’s served him well since 1989. Filmed live at Casino Rama in Toronto, Canada - All Starr 2003 members are John Waite (The Babys, Bad English), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike & The Mechanics), Sheila E. (Prince), Mark Rivera (Billy Joel.) During this summer 2003 tour, Ringo Starr allowed a cameraman to follow him and the All-Starrs throughout the course of their travels for the first time ever! This DVD is your ticket to an unscripted, uncensored and unprecedented look at a Rock Legend at work -and at play, behind-the-scenes footage brings you up close and personal with the boys - and girl - in the band. Join in with Ringo as he gets a little help from his friends on classics like Honey Don’t, Boys and Yellow Submarine! Plus, experience an All-Starr take on 80s Hits like Mike & The Mechanics’ graceful Living Years, Sheila E.’s funk-pop Glamorous Life and Men At Work’s cult favorite Down Under.
Ringo Starr hits the road with another group of well-known rock accompanists in this 80-minute program, recorded in 2001 at Chicago's Rosemont Theater. Now, no one–most likely including Ringo himself–will claim that the former Beatle drummer is a great singer or artist, but he's an amiable bandleader with a clutch of solo hits to perform, including "Back Off Boogaloo," "Photograph," and "It Don't Come Easy," not to mention the Fabs' own "Yellow Submarine" and "With a Little Help from My Friends." Add to that the presence of rock dinosaurs Greg Lake (King Crimson, ELP), Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), and Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople), along with relative youngsters Howard Jones and Sheila E. (all of whom perform one or two of their own best-known songs), and you've got a recipe for a relaxed and appealing stroll down memory lane. DVD bonus features include a brief featurette about the band.
