Plaid return with their second soundtrack to a Japanese film after the succesful work they did on the anime Tekkonkinkreet. Something about Plaid's beats seems to perfectly capture the essence of Japanese life. The bright and fast-paced city centers coincide with the dark and quiet underground. Here Plaid are allowed to experiment a little more than on Tekkonkinkreet, flexing skills impressively on tracks like "Bata" and "Takeshita Street". Things even get a little dubsteppy on "Not Hearing A Word", dial up the Japanese influence on "K3", and get down right ravey with "Host". A lot of variety for a soundtrack. Rarely has an electronica album such a fitting title - "Heaven's Door"…
