Paul Lamb And The Detroit Breakdown - Fly In4mation (2017)

Detroit. Few words draw up such emotion and imagery as that one word sentence. It’s really a novel on its own, and says more about music than most books ever could. Detroit’s rich musical history has produced some of the worlds elite. Paul Lamb grew up in these streets immersed in Detroit’s musical pulse; The Blues, the Funk, the Rock, and of course the Soul. Paul Lamb, and his band The Detroit Breakdown, are a perfectly unique by-product of this city’s pulse.

Paul came of age listening to great Detroit radio like Bob Seger, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton and other outside influences like Hendrix and Johnny Winter. He began playing guitar in the sweat soaked clubs of the downtown scene cutting his teeth in R&B and rock bands. He began to develop, what is now, his signature whiskey throttled voice and riff minded guitar. “There is no music school like the stage.” He says. “ I learned a lot in those early years. I learned the discipline of playing in the pocket and the freedom to express my self without rule, and most importantly how to craft a song.”

Paul has evolved from those greasy local jukes to headlining his own world tours. The Detroit Breakdown have shared stages with such greats as Walter Trout, Peter Green, and far too many more to mention. Paul and his band have performed at countless European festivals highlighted by appearances at Glastonbury. He has logged hundreds of thousands of miles preaching his brand of high energy, blue collared, bone thumping groove. At times Paul Lamb and The Detroit Breakdown can work an audience into a funk rock roof raising frenzy and the next, deliver a heart melting soul seizing blues ballad revealing compassion and relentless honesty.

When the band is not touring they can be found recording at the legendary Rustbelt Studio back home. The band has just finished their seventh studio album “Fly In4mation.” The latest release was recorded by producer Al Sutton ( Kid Rock, Greta Van Fleet). “ It’s really a live studio album. We all got in one room and let the two inch tape machine roll. Then later added some bells and whistles. It’s raw energy at its apex.” explains Paul. “We can’t wait to take it on the road in 2018!”
Whether Paul Lamb and The Detroit Breakdown are bringing their brand of music to audiences near and far or pounding it out in the studio, one thing is certain, Paul Lamb carries the musical torch as well as any native of Detroit City could ever do.
