Funny that I do no seem to find a lot of information about this specific presentation of Carmina Burana on the net; yet I think that if you like CB in general, it’s definitely worth listening to this CD. OK, the dynamics and power of ‘O fortuna’ is shocking in most interpretations but this one simply blows your hat off.
(Once I lived in a house where some guy thought that he was the only one in the neighborhood with a loud hifi set. We had a wall in front so any loud sound bounced back and the whole house could enjoy it. The windows were open on a fine summer day and this chap though that everybody was keen to listen to the same music as he does. He played it loud; there was some shouting, but the volume did not change. I remember that - just to put things in their proper perspective - I had put my two B&Ws in the window, turned the volume about 3/4s of 0db (2*120 W 8 ohm properly constructed monoblocks) and let ‘O fortuna’ sing loud and clear. I had let the whole first track play. By the end of it the whole house was shouting and swearing BUT we never had any neighbour making excessive noises ever again. At least while I lived there. Talk about the power of Music!!! ;-)
