Again a stupefying accumulation of novel sounds on this album; it is admirable how Sugar keeps on surprising us, but then, I sometimes wonder when the endless stream of sound effects are integrated into a structured composition centering around a clearly defined theme. Miklos has a tendency to remain largely cinematographic, going from scene to scene without these being more than loosely connected.
Yet, you will like Short Story and Iris, for it is there that he manages to create a unified panorama. Iris especially is my favorite. This is not so much because the cover art is a reproduction (with distorted aspect ratio) of Van Gogh’s Irises; it’s simply the best piece on this album, I think.
Therefore, the record could have been baptized Iris, and not Ear Mouvement…although a darker association might bring you from Iris to van Gogh to, er, ear mouvements. Yes, I mean "removal".

Morbid? Too far-fetched? Miklos is known to choose multi-referential titles. The man likes wordplay. See, for instance, the explanation for Percupicsy in the booklet.
