The Lillingtons are a Rock and Roll band from Newcastle, Wyoming who made a mark on the world of Punk Rock. Considered a pop punk act by contemporaries, their sound often draws comparisons from punk pioneers the Ramones. Fat Mike, the owner of punk record label Fat Wreck Chords, as well as leader of renowned act NOFX, has been quoted as calling "Death By Television" by the Lillingtons «the best pop-punk album of all time» ; «The greatest band I've heard since the Queers» as said by Ben Weasel.

☆ Mars Vs. Hollywood: The Lillingtons at AvaxHome [Upgraded, re-upped & finished] ☆

The original lineup consisting of Kody Templeman, Zack Rawhauser, Cory Laurence, and Tim O'Hara as a four-piece only recorded the first 7-inches "I Lost My Marbles", produced by Joe King of The Queers for his "More Bounce to the Ounce" compilation CD. The band continued as a three-piece after Zack quit.

Their first full-length album, titled "Shit Out of Luck", was released on Clearview Records in 1996. Following the release of their first album the band changed their lyrical focus. In 1999 they went into the studio with producer-engineer Mass Giorgini to record a new LP. This was done with the bands own money, and without the benefit of a record label. The result was "Death By Television", an album that took sci-fi movie-themed songs such as "War Of The Worlds" and "Invasion Of The Saucermen" and combined them with tracks that made references to other retro themes, such as "X-Ray Specs" and "I Need Some Brain Damage". The recordings instanly created a buzz. Successful label Fat Wreck Chords offered to release the album, but the band had already accepted an offer. They signed with Panic Button Records, an imprint of influential punk label Lookout! Records that was overseen by Ben Weasel of Screeching Weasel fame.

The band spent the next two years touring heavily within the punk scene and disbanded after teaming with Giorgini for their final Panic Button/Lookout! release, the spy-themed LP "The Backchannel Broadcast", which was released in February, 2001. The album included the song "Wait It Out", written by Ben Weasel and later re-recorded by The Riverdales for their record "Phase Three".

John Jughead (of Screeching Weasel and Even in Blackouts) filled in as second guitar on many tour stops on the "Death by Television" and "Backchannel" tours. Other notable appearances on these tours include Ben Weasel (at The Fireside in Chicago, his first stage appearance since 1995), and Lurch Nobody. Timmy left the band after "Death by Television" and was replaced by drummer Scott.

☆ Mars Vs. Hollywood: The Lillingtons at AvaxHome [Upgraded, re-upped & finished] ☆

In 2005 Clearview Records reissued the Lillingtons' early recordings as "Technically Unsound" Boxset, later, the Red Scare Industries label reissued "Death By Television" and "Backchannel Broadcast". The band split for a few years before reuniting with all original members to release a new album, "The Too Late Show" in 2006 with no plans on reuniting for a tour to support due to the members' other commitments.

Frontman Templeman is currently a member of Laramie, Wyoming pop punk band Teenage Bottlerocket. Drummer Timmy has playing as a hired hand with Albuquerque, New Mexico all girl three-piece The Eyeliners, and plays drums in his own project Stabbed in Back, a solo hardcore/punk project entitled "A Portrait of Noise". 2nd drummer Scott has been rumored to be somewhere in Austin, Texas.

Also, former frontman Kody, bassist Cory, guitarist Zach, and twins Ray and Brandon from Teenage Bottlerocket have a side project SACK that put out in 2005 an album entitled "Get Wrecked" on Clearview Records.

Originally issued on Lookout Records in 1999, the Lillingtons' pop-punk classic Death by Television has been remastered by Mass Giorgini (who produced the original album) for this 2006 reissue through San Francisco-based Red Scare. Burnt out from covering girls and heartbreak on their earlier work, the Lillingtons switch things up for this super-charged record, thematically basing their songs around sci-fi movies and UFO type phenomenon – that's right, their rollicking energy is now channeled into songs where aliens are taking over the world and Neil Armstrong is taking bananas away from moon-bound Apemen. The guys are pretty straightforward in their Ramones-styled approach; a handful of different chord progressions, a quick beat, and an unwavering vocal delivery are all that's needed to deliver 14 invigorating songs that aren't anywhere near as tedious as that description might suggest on paper. The Wyoming crew's muscular pop-punk sits alongside underground faves like Screeching Weasel and the Queers, but with a much more lighthearted and less sarcastic line of attack. Death by Television has been considered by many as not only the Lillingtons' best work, but also one of the strongest pop-punk releases to come out of the '90s. But regardless of that well-deserved distinction, most people probably missed this gem the first time around. So now is your chance at redemption with that guy with the Ben Weasel shrine in his room – just be sure to thank the nice folks at Red Scare for your newfound street cred as you're rocking out in your car.

Not as good as their previous record, but definitely worth to have it!

The Lillingtons have returned with an album chock full of classic themes: the Red Menace, alien invasions, double agent spies, and every other kinda B-movie hijinx you can think of. Their vivid imaginations are matched only by their ability to write dynamic and catchy punk rock ditties.

The Lillingtons - Technically Unsound (4CD, 2004)
FLAC+CUE+LOG or MP3 CBR 320 | 140:11 min | 1065 or 220 MB

The Technically Unsound Box Set is a complete account of everything that we recorded from the band's beginning through our era with Clearview Records. We left the Lillington High 7" off of this compilation as a favor to the "elitists" that bought the original, and, also because all four songs are on "Shit Out Of Luck" and sound a hell of a lot better. We included an unreleased live recording, the previously unreleased Stupid World 7", and a few demos of songs that never saw the light of day.

SACK - Get Wrecked (2004)
FLAC+CUE+LOG or MP3 CBR 320 | 25:08 min | 204 or 58 MB

Years ago after the Lillingtons decided to take a break, front-man Kody Templeman and a few of his Wyoming pals got drunk and started a new band - SACK. They'd recorded a drunken album for Clearview records (the label that gave the Lill-ies their start) and disappeared before anyone was even able to get their hands on it. All these songs are like the soundtrack to the greatest teen movie never made. Simple, stupid and drunken - this is a party record. Not the kind of music you put on at a party, but definitely music you'd blast in your car on your way to a party ridding around in an over crowded car. Taking a step away from the Ramones worship and just belting out a fast, snotty and fun tunes like "One Helluva Party", "Pool Party" and "Let's Get Blind" are prime examples of the uh… drunk party "theme", and songs like "The Classic", "The Headbanger" and "The Born Loser" give a good description of the low lifes and degenerates that make this drunk party so much fun.

The Lillingtons - The Too Late Show (2006)
FLAC+CUE+LOG or MP3 CBR 320 | 23:50 min | 208 or 54 MB

The Lillingtons broke up after 2001's Backchannel Broadcast, its members going on to form Teenage Bottlerocket and Stabbed in Back, while their small clutch of devout fans were left to spread the love that was a little-known pop-punk crew from Wyoming. Early 2006 found the original high-spirited cast of Kody Templeman, Cory Laurence, Tim O'Hara and Zachary Rawhouser reuniting with the assurance of a brand new record. These old fans (and a still small but growing number of new ones) rejoiced. Fulfilling that promise, The Too Late Show has arrived and with it comes – well, no real surprises for anyone familiar with the Lillingtons' back catalog. No tricks were pulled out of their collective back pocket; The Too Late Show is basically the same set of songs as the band's old stuff, but you know, new. And while this is hardly a bad thing since the songs are indeed fun, they do have the tendency to run into one another to resemble one giant track. Some may be turned off, but if this kind of pop-punk is your bag (you know who you are), this is one good show. "All I Hear Is Static" is an amusing appeal to watch television in peace ("I wish you would be quiet but you always start a riot when I pick up the remote control/I don't care about your day, can you please get out of the way so I can see?"), while Martians enjoy taking out celebrities with their ray guns during "Mars Vs. Hollywood". For the most part, it's all tongue-in-cheek and geeky humor once again (sci-fi, conspiracy theories and the lot) combining with an ever-present love of the Ramones and Screeching Weasel for 11 songs that promptly come and go in under 30 minutes. On one hand, it's tempting to be all "Seriously guys? Five years for 24 minutes of music?" But seeing as the songs are as strong as anything the Lillingtons have previously released, stop complaining and just sing along.
