After the worldwide success of their album "Mozart meets Cuba", which was one of the best-selling albums for Mozart's 250th birthday, Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion dedicate their twelfth album to Ludwig van Beethoven, whose 250th birthday celebrates the Klassikwelt 2020. Beethoven's work seems so compact and coherent that the impression is created that nothing more can be added. But already on his first album, "Classic meets Cuba", the quintet has shown through a set of the "Pathétique" sonata that it is possible to skilfully blend Beethoven's music with Cuban rhythms, and over the years, they have created more for their successful albums edits. The Klazz Brothers have further developed and modernized their stylistic diversity, as the new album increasingly uses pads and synthesizers, which Bruno Böhmer Camacho skilfully uses melodically. "Beethoven meets Cuba" presents Beethoven's famous works, intelligently interwoven with Cuban elements. In "Conga No. 5", for example, the theme of Beethoven's 5th Symphony is amplified with complex rhythms in Conga style, although the sound changes but its penetrating character is preserved. The main theme of the "Waldstein Sonata", on the other hand, has a size that finds its equivalent in the Danzőn Groove of "Waldstein Sonata I", an elegant, soulful rhythm. Combined with the typical Latin American timbres, Beethoven sounds lighter, more carefree than in the classical concert hall. Some works become almost danceable. Classics such as "Für Elise", the "Pathétique" and the "Mondschein" Sonata present themselves with completely new traits - and the famous final chorus from the 9th Symphony "Freude schöner Götterfunken", set in danceable Mambo, sets the radiance and Joy of the original work on completely different, namely Cuban kind um. For the new album, the ensemble has completely re-arranged much of their Beethoven repertoire. Added are also completely new edits, z. B. the "Turkish March", the "Waldstein Sonata" and the famous slow movement of the 7th Symphony. "Beethoven meets Cuba" presents new works by Beethoven, sometimes swinging casually, sometimes fiery and dancing.
