Kepi Ghoulie and Vic Ruggiero team up for a great 10 song release. This release is available strictly through mailorder and through the artists live shows. You probably know Vic better as the frontman/lead singer from the Slackers and Kepi as the leader for the Groovie Ghoulies. These accomplished musicians have put together an amazing release chock full of sing alongs.
Welcome to the New Dark Ages!
I went to see the Slackers in San Francisco on New Year's Eve, and a splendid time it was indeed. Sometime about 2 a.m., I realised that my friend Garagezilla had some studio time booked for later that day. Vic and I had tried to record together a couple of times previous, just loose, to capture the fun we've had at our live shows together. Garagezilla gave up his time, Vic came to Sacramento, and a session was born. We realised that part of the fun of the live shows was Vic bouncing around from guitar to accordion to mandolin, and we had none of those other instruments. I got up at 10:00 a.m. and drove to the suburbs to round these things up. The session got pushed back, and then we went in for four magical hours. The studio looked and began to feel like a cool, swampy cabin (in a good way!), and David Houston created an atmosphere that was instantly comfortable. Most everything was done live and in just a take or two to keep that live feel.
