Julianna’s debut album, Something Peculiar, was produced by Jeff Lynne, who met Raye through her cousin, Kamen. Lynne was so taken by her voice and songs, he offered to produce Julianna’s album. Signed to Warner Brothers by Lenny Waronker, Something Peculiar met with great critical acclaim. It was described by Spin magazine as “a pop rock diamond in the rough…Raye’s luminous voice and cinematic tales of love, dreams and life carry the day.” Something Peculiar was also voted one of NPR’s top ten records of the year.
Terrific album full of great melodic pop songs masterfully arranged and produced by the genius that is Jeff Lynne.
Julianna's voice is superb, backed up by a bunch of top notch musicians including Jeff Lynne plays everything as usual, Richard Tandy (Electric Light Orchestra), Jim Horn and Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers).
This is one of the greatest unheralded albums ever released. If you like great pop music you'll love this.
