In the 1770s, Johann Christian Bach should have heard about the most successful and wealthiest musicians throughout Europe: the youngest of Bach considered that in the 18th century international considered the most famous and successful Member of the Bach family. His fame faded, so it will seem still to lifetime - today he is known to many only as Mozart's. The recording of five of his orchestral compositions - as a continuation of the CD-series with instrumental music of the Bach sons - but shows an unjustly forgotten music, which breathes a very independent spirit. Much like Mozart knew the "Milan" or later "London Bach", to incorporate its many different musical experiences in his work and to establish his own style. Johann Christian Bach preferred in his compositions of coloured instrumentation and experimented with various solo instruments; his works are characterized by the noble elegance and Cantability of the Italian Opernarie.

Of later generations of musicians, Bach was often accused that he himself would have made too easy composing. Here played works clearly show: every piece is an inspired original of gems for the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, which an once highly meets his trademark - playful level, experimentation and passion - with this CD and great music.

Johann Christian Bach - Freiburger Barockorchester - Concerti (2007)

Disc reviews Michael B. White "klassik-heute"
For the music of the early classic, we have not historically also only fairly far reaching back performance tradition. In contrast to the music of the late Baroque, as well as the high classical music that has been considered so exceedingly tense time between them rarely by great conductors; strong a prejudice has been involved as well, which is already reflected in the insufficient name "Pietro": that namely between Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - with the exception of some few special cases - hardly significant composers were born, and that which is merely to understand created music under the only preliminary sign of a class has yet to approach at this time interpreted as a transition period.

It was reserved to maintain the music for this music history section particularly constitutive of the sons of Bach and to play on a record; the modern ensembles so ultimately largely and because the ensemble start-ups give a significant advantage the old instruments and the historically informed practice, is the maintenance of this so exciting music connotes closely with this sound. Unfortunately, many of the old music ensembles have content too quickly with a mere facade.

Not so the Freiburger Barockorchester! With a really gratifying recording of works by Johann Christian Bach's this ensemble under the direction of Gottfried von der Goltz pointing required after passionate fire on the other hand this music, how much spirit of wealth on the one hand. On the sixth episode of a series with works of Bach sons, each of itself as youthful works from the time of the spring will be presented classical music with contagious freshness as if with mighty wind quasi the dust should be removed by centuries of it. In the Sinfonia concertante about every tutti chord with incredible Radiance is running, each gesture, each having only formulaic phrase, yes every note their direction, the tempos are perfectly made because they set exclusively on speed and busy-ness, but allow also the spread of sound. Just the sinewy, but always soft and also sufficiently voluminous strings can unfold so really. If in the Minuetto of this Sinfonia concertante about a metric CURIOUSER Flash in the shoots into dance, then can this also on purely aural level impact.

On the other hand, the reduced weight of the device, the transparency of the Orchestra, will also cause that which we know with enforcement problems behaftete flute in the Flute Concerto in d major Warb C 79 with lyrical brilliance comes through, at the same time but even the flautist Karl Kaiser thank developed despite des timbres so abgeschatteten something like radiance,. In short: the so-called "English Bach" is portrayed here in a very fascinating way; you only really regrets having so few comparisons to the reading of historical conductors.
