Horacio Franco is considered one of the great Mexican soloists of our time and is internationally renowned as an accomplished recorder (blockflute) player. Last year on 16 May he performed with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields under the direction of Kenneth Sillito at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, where his concert was rewarded with a standing ovation (not very usual on the critical London music scene).
Born in Mexico City (where he currently resides) in 1963, Horacio Franco graduated with honours from the National Conservatory of Music and won a scholarship to study with Marijke Miessen and Walter van Hauwe at the Sweelinck Conservatorium of Amsterdam.
