Great Wide Nothing - The View From Olympus (2019)

Great Wide Nothing is a progressive/art rock band hailing from Atlanta, GA. Conceived, initially, as a solo endeavor by bassist, frontman, and principal songwriter/composer Daniel Graham, the project took on a life of its own with the addition of keyboard virtuoso Dylan Porper and renowned percussionist Jeff Matthews (both graduates of the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media) in the Summer of 2017, as the group collectively rehearsed, arranged, and ultimately refined Graham's original compositions.

An unconventional power trio whose unique instrumentation, colorful lyrical imagery, and symphonic leanings frequently elicit comparisons to classic 70's prog acts like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but whose accessible melodies, emotionally compelling, often spiritual and/or socially-conscious subject matter, and eclectic, somewhat more modern tonal palette lend them a contemporary edge, Great Wide Nothing successfully bridges the gap between reverent nostalgia and of-the-moment urgency, offering listeners a distinctive, relevant take on the powerful and grandiose sounds that defined one of rock and roll's oddest, boldest, and most polarizing eras.
