On this second record we will hear Palmgren’s magnificent Piano Concertos no. 4-5. The brilliant pianist on the record is Janne Mertanen who has made many recordings for Alba Records. Two other pieces conductor Jan Söderblom has chosen for this record are Pastorale in three scenes and Exotic March. The first recording of Palmgren’s music – The River (ABCD385) received brilliant reviews. The River included Piano Concerto no.1-3 performed by Henri Sigfridsson. The recording was one of the best sellers for Alba Records in 2016.

Finland-based Tempera Quartet is best known for its incisive interpretations of the complete string quartet oeuvre of Jean Sibelius. Tackling some 20 works, or 70-odd movements, that make up the Finnish master's output, is no small feat, and the Tempera Quartet received high praise from critics for its three-CD set on BIS, which contains this mostly neglected music.

This is the debut album from the recently formed Russian-Finnish ensemble La Compangnie Pochette.” The group is made up of violinist Minna Pensola, violist Antti Tikkanen, and violin da spalls Segey Malov. For this release, they have chosen the Goldberg Variations, some of J. S. Bach’s most famous works. The three musicians have arranged the entire variations for their unique instrumentation, and this is the premiere recording of this arrangement.
