In June 1972, Jochum recorded for Deutsche Grammophon the two Brahms piano concerti with the pianist Emil Gilels and the Berlin Philharmonic. The present release comprises two live recordings : the first concerto with the English pianist Solomon and the second piano concerto with Gilels, but this time with the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam.
