Dalinetopia, recorded in 2004 and released on Edgar Froese's new-founded label Eastgate Music in January 2005 is his first proper solo album with completely new material since Pinnacles (1983). According to Edgar Froese's liner notes the music is ''composed in honor and respect of an artist character who touched more than anybode else the level of subconscious all human beings have in common''. This man, of course, is Salvador Dali, the Spanish artist. Back in 1967, Edgar Froese had visited Dali in Spain, and obviously he was strongly impressed: a first reminiscence to Dali he made back in 1979 with the composition A Dali-esque Sleep Fuse.

While the Tangerine Dream homepage announced the new album as ''surrealistic sound journey through […] Dali's fantastic world'', most of the music material is quite similar to other solo material Edgar Froese has released during the last years. But there are a few exceptional pieces – especially the long Dalumination appears to have strong influences by the recent work of ex-Tangerine Dream member Johannes Schmoelling both in style and instrumentation, and this track surely is some of the finest music Edgar Froese has written during the last decade. Probably this is some result of the re-established cooperation between Edgar Froese and Johannes Schmoelling in 2005 which finally resulted in the release of Kyoto.
