Heh, this is a funny little EP from the doom metal legends Cathedral. Mind you I'm not familiar with their old material, but on this release it's less doom metal and more stoner metal I imagine. Every track is cool, mid-paced doomy stoner metal with very vivacious vocals and lyrics that deal with the Salem Witch Trials, Hell, and other related topics. How much more metal can you get there? Each song is about average length, except for The Devil's Summit, and isn't too impressive technically; however, every thing is very catchy and fun to listen to.Tracklist:
The obvious highlight of this release is The Devil's Summit, which is an almost-ten-minute jam of funk, doom, and jazz. Can we say awesome? This is where Dorrian's energy reeally penetrates through the speakers and the band's creativity reaches its zenith(at least on this release). You just can't beat the improvisational nature of this, with the wild saxophone, guitar, keyboard, and other solos. Anyway, I'm sure this EP doesn't reach anywhere near the brilliance of many of their full-length albums, but it's a very exciting listen.
