"Bubblin'" is the moniker of Dutch swing guitarist / vocalist Dirkjan Toorop, who infuses this CD of Classic-jazz covers with his spontaneity and good-humored fun. His trio includes Wilco Jordi on violin and accordionist Jean-Pierre Guiran, who also plays in the musette and Gypsy swing band Orkest Polytour. This CD is a finger-snapping good time. The band plays rollicking versions of standards such as "I got Rhythm," "Body and Soul," "Round Midnight,""In a Sentimental Mood," and more, injecting them with energy and spontaneous fun.

Jean-Pierre, reed organist, born to a Dutch mother and father of French background, spoke Dutch at home but played an sang in French. He is joined by Javanese guitarist vocalist, Dirkjan Toorop and Wilco Jordi[violin} for Laughin' in Rhythm", a CD made in 1991. This Bubblin' Toorop Trio was a fun filled group producing easy swinging music with vocals in French English and whatever, and the disc offers sixteen titles guaranteed to amuse excite and evoke nostalgia from fans of this Swing era music. Starting with "I Got Rhythm" and the title piece, "Laughin' in Rythm" and followed by "All of Me" and "The Sheik of Araby", we are treated to sweet and gutsy swing. "God Bless the Child" gets a gypsy twist and so does Monk's "Round Midnight" in a delightful manner. Everyone's enjoying making these cuts. You'll enjoy the swinging 4 to the bar guitar and Manouche guitar solos. JUST JAZZ GUITAR, Frank Forte.[/quote]
