Al Terry & The Purple Haze Blues Band - Nothing Left to Lose (2017)

Al Terry, harmonica ace and vocalist from Sydney, Australia has collaborated with some of Malaysia’s blues royalty in ZiZiBlues, Sheik Karim and Jim Madasamy of Blues Gang fame to produce an album of hard and fast Chicago style blues that will rock the house.

Forged in the urban jungle at Greenhouse Studios, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; this album features the raw power and fat tone of Al’s amplified blues harp; the creative genius of ZiziBlues’ lead guitar and the rock-solid rhythm section of Blues Gang Co-founders Karim and Jim…. As guest - the irrepressible Lord Lokman adds keys to the mix to create the full Chicago blues sound.

A mix of traditional blues tracks and originals, Nothing left to lose will be released on 8th December 2017 on CD Baby and launched with live performances around Malaysia and South East Asia…keeping the blues alive…

Al Terry
Al is an Australian blues harmonica player and vocalist who specialises in the big amplified tone of the Chicago blues. On numerous tours through the U.S. Alex met/learned from/played with, blues harmonica greats such as Charlie Musselwhite, James Cotton, Willie Foster, Joe Filisco, Kim Wilson, Rick Estrin and Gary Primich. Alex is a regular performer with bands at international music festivals and his collaboration with Australian blues guitar legend Dom Turner (Backlsiders) has seen them performing at venues throughout South East Asia for over 20 years. Alex is a blues front-man who sings and plays blues classics, all performed with taste and raw power.

The Purple Haze Blues Band
The Purple Haze, a three piece band was formed more than 15 years ago. All the members are veterans of more than 3 decades in the business, having performed from North to South of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak. The band's music is blues based and they also venture into other genres, catering to the needs and demands of the pub and club audiences. Their repertoire includes blues, classic rock, reggae and rock n roll.

The band consists of ZZi blues on guitars and vocals and founding Blues Gang Members Shaik Karim on drums and vocals and Jim Madasamy on bass and vocals.

Shaik Karim.
Founder member of the Blues Gang in 1973.Singer and composer for the BG with notable hit, Ibu, written by him. Although a blues singer, he is also at ease with other kind of music. Early influences include BB King, Johnny Winter, John Mayall,Muddy Waters, Rolling Stones. Beatles etc.

ZZi Blues.
One of the few blues guitarists in the country. Zzi has performed in almost every corner of Malaysia.He does the vocals too. Early influences are BB King, Peter Green, Eric Clapton and many other blues greats.

Jim Madasamy.
Founder member of the Blues Gang with Shaik Karim in Singapore in 1973.Penned the hit Mak Siti with the BG.Early influences are Rolling Stones.Beatles and others. Plays bass and vocals.
