Celebrating Vince Hill's 55th Anniversary as a solo singer, the Coventry born singer/songwriter has released over 300 recordings since he began this career and sold in excess of 10 million records in the UK alone. This all-new compilation contains Vince's complete Warner Music-owned Greatest Hits including his 1967 million selling single "Edelweiss" and Top 15 hits "Take Me To Your Heart Again (La Vie En Rose)" and "Look Around (And You'll Find Me There)" alongside highlights from other rare A&B side singles and original studio albums of the time. Also featured are the original film soundtrack songs Vince recorded for motion pictures 'The Railway Children', 'Cast A Giant Shadow' and 'The Long Duel'. All of the recordings have been Digitally Re-mastered from the Original Analogue Master Tapes. The CD album also includes an 8-page booklet with personal message from Vince Hill and detailed track information.
Currently celebrating the fifty-fifth anniversary of his first solo single release (THE RIVER’S RUN DRY) and fifty years since his massive UK #2 hit EDELWEISS, it’s the ideal time to reappraise the career of Coventry-born Vince. Very popular on Sixties/Seventies radio and television, Vince had a classy distinctive vocal style and is recalled as a dedicated and respected entertainer who successfully explored many areas of show business and can be definitely labelled as an all-rounder.
Appropriately, there are several newly-released CD collections and downloads to consider to but this release was put together by Vince and his late wife, Annie who was his guiding light through life and career so it’s a very personal collection dedicated to her memory. It not only features that million-seller EDELWEISS, but adds all of Vince’s other EMI-released hits:-TAKE ME TO YOUR HEART AGAIN (new lyrics for LA VIE EN ROSE) #13 (1966), HEARTACHES #28 (1966), MERCI CHERIE # (1966), ROSES OF PICARDY #13 (1967), LOVE LETTERS IN THE SAND #23 (1967), THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR LOVE #32 (1968), DOESN’T ANYBODY KNOW MY NAME? #50 (1969), LITTLE BLUE BIRD #42 (1969) and LOOK AROUND AND YOU’LL FIND ME THERE #12 (1971). Some rarer Sixties/Seventies selections from “A” and “B” singles (I particularly liked PUSH PUSH - a lively novelty number), studio albums and a couple of “live performance” tracks also share track space. Additionally, three movie-related theme songs:- LOVE ME TRUE for CAST A GIANT SHADOW (1966) and WHEN THE WORLD IS READY for THE LONG DUEL (1967), MORE THAN EVER NOW for THE RAILWAY CHILDREN (1970) also make this release very special with eleven songs reaching CD format for the first time.
