    A pairing often touted as the world's finest conductor with the greatest orchestra, this release sees Mariss Janson interpreting a variety of 20th-century works with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Varèse's Amériques was his first composition in the United States, marking a brand new direction for the French composer's career, while Shostakovich's Sixth Symphony is one of his most well-loved pieces for its exhilarating crescendo from slow introspection to full-blooded Gallup.
