The idea of this project was born in the summer of 2015 during a seminar held by Norma Winstone and looks like a real tribute to this amazing English vocalist with the addition of some original songs. The disc, in fact, starts right from here and is characterized by a crystalline musicality and a purity of sound that combine with a simple and spontaneous personality. At the base a deep curiosity and the desire to conduct a research around a great artist reworking the relationship between music and text, the unconventional way.
Tumiza is divided into two parts: the first is titled "A Norma" and, as we said, is a tribute to the English singer Norma Winstone. It is a series of songs recorded by her and written by great composers such as Fred Hersch, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, reworked for piano voice and sax trio. The second part, instead, is called "Fuori Norma" and consists of three tracks, two originals and one by Louis Cole.
