"I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE EXPLAINING ALBUMS. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN EXPLAIN IT IS TO HEAR IT. THE ALBUM IS THE EXPLANATION, AND IT'S UP TO YOU TO MAKE WHAT YOU WANT OF IT. THERE IS NO THEME TO ABBEY ROAD. THERE NEVER IS A THEME TO ANY OF OUR ALBUMS."
    PAUL MCCARTNEY, SEPTEMBER 1969

PAUL'S PRICKLY PRONOUNCEMENTS AROUND THE release of The Beatles' eleventh studio album underline the tension that existed in and around the hand at the time. The Fab Four were no more. In their place stood four world-weary individuals, stripped of their naivety alter near-enough a decade of hard graft, and all armed with increasingly divergent views. In truth, they had long outgrown the pop game, and McCartney revealed as much in his demand to let the music do the talking.
All four members of The Beatles were also aware that Abbey Road was likely to be their final statement made as a group, recorded as it was after the disastrous sessions that would emerge in May 1970 as the bulk of their Let It Be swan-song. In fact, it proved to be their most successful album to date. Abbey Road Now! is an exclusive celebration of its 40th anniversary, reflecting the last time The Beatles attempted to portray a united front. As is customary with our series of Beatles re-recordings, all the artists here have been hand-picked by MOJO for your listening pleasure. We salute their interpretive powers and invite you to discover their own work for yourselves.
