South West Australian, singer-songwriter Tracey Barnett is described as 'Blues and Roots' by many, but she is by no means boxed-in to the genre. She loves to experiment with different influences, making her performances a truly refreshing journey for the listener. Skillful guitar, thumping stomp-box and soaring vocals, trimmed with a little harmonica, create a unique, uplifting and dynamic live show. Tracey Barnett truly is the ultimate one-woman-band.
Tracey's latest release, 'Heart, Soul, Feeling' is her third recording, having previously released 'The First of Many' EP in 2010 and 'Blooming' EP in 2013. The four year wait between releases is well worth it, with her latest album delivering a showcase of her best song writing yet. Beautiful emotive lyrics, teamed with her iconic warm, rhythmic guitar riffs, leaves you toe tapping all the way through. It is roots music at its best, but also delves into her background influences of rock music, folk rock and country embellished with catchy hooks. Tracey's WAM (West Australian Music) 2016 Blues/Roots Song of the Year nominated track, 'Listen to the Earth', is included on the album and has received air play on Triple J's program Roots 'N' All.
Her solo career began in 2008, busking on the streets of her hometown at the Blues at Bridgetown Festival. Here she was spotted by a touring musician who invited Tracey to open for some of his shows throughout the South West. She jumped the opportunity and was blown away by the response from the crowds and venues. Within a few months she was performing her own shows throughout the area.
Now with over eight years in the industry, Tracey has stepped up to be known as one of WA's most hectic touring musicians. She is no stranger to the stage or the road, having toured much of our great country, predominantly on her own. Tracey has supported the likes of Donavon Frankenreiter, Tex Perkins and Wendy Matthews, performed at many WA music festivals and received multiple nominations for her song writing.
