The Pat Metheny Group ‎- In Concert, USA 1992 (1993) [Unofficial Release]

This live American concert in 1992 emerged on cd at about the same time as the Geffen release "The road to you" which was culled from PMG's european concerts in the early 90's.

While this current selection may not quite equal that release in the quality of the sound, it is a much better live performance overall. There are a couple of small blips in the performance but this is live and taken from one concert. Raw Metheny but edge of your seat performance.

The concert was recorded live in the USA in 1992 at what venue we are sadly not informed.

I was fortunate to find this rare CD in a "pre-owned" CD shop in pristine condition. This was the fabled "Secret Story Tour" in 1992, which took the PMG to various campuses and venues across the USA. Playing with Metheny are his long-time band mates Lyle Mays (keyboards), Paul Wertico (drums), Steve Rodby (bass), Armand Marcai (percussion), & Pedro Aznar (vocals & other instruments). The playing is excellent, reflecting Metheny's output at the time. Some may have issues with the sound quality, perhaps a little mixing was in order (sounds like it came direct from the mixing board), but it is intimate and warm. Also, this falls into the " commercial bootleg" category, so that is why this recording did not receive wide distribution. Much of Metheny's work has a timeless quality, and this recording fits that category - airy, light, and cerebral. This line-up was on several subsequent PMG recordings, including "Road to You" & 'We Live Here". Recommended.
