Although there are many different recordings of the individual suites, this complete set is one of only three currently available. Neeme Jarvi is regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of Russian repertoire. The relatively little known orchestral suites of Tchaikovsky are in the style of his symphonies, melodic and romantic, and the Detroit Symphony plays beautifully.
