Storm Warning weave an intoxicating mix of contemporary blues and rock with traditional elements and jazzy overtones. They are a band of five diverse influences and one of the most musically exciting, dynamic and interesting bands on the UK blues/rock scene.
The blues harmonica of Son Maxwell shares the lead with the rock and jazz influenced guitar of Bob Moore, with the classic Hammond and piano sounds of Ian Salisbury adding an additional blues-based dimension. Drummer Roger Willis, formerly with Capability Brown and Krazy Kat, and bassist Derek White complete the line-up, forming what The Blues Band bass man Gary Fletcher described as “an ace rhythm section.”
Storm Warning’s debut album, ‘Breaking Out’, is a consistent selling album. It received excellent reviews in Blues in Britain (10 out of 10 rating), Blues Matters Magazine and Blues Revue USA. The band recorded a live session for Paul Jones BBC Radio 2 blues programme which was broadcast last year along with album tracks from the ‘Breaking Out’ CD.
‘Something Real’, the eagerly awaited 2nd album, has eight superbly crafted original songs and one Lucky Peterson cover. The CD is scheduled for UK release on 9th June and will be available throughout the UK.
Storm Warning have played most of the major blues festivals in the UK and their popularity is increasing further a field with festival appearances in Poland, Holland and the US.
Storm Warning are certainly storming the British Blues scene and you can be sure of a storming set at Blues on the Farm 2009.
“Son Maxwell has a brilliant blues voice … damn fine band who have a distinct individuality. Very much recommended.” – Blues Matters magazine
