Sonya Yoncheva - Handel (2017)

Sonya’s international career started in Paris, when she was elected by the eminent conductor William Christie into his academy for young singers, ‘JARDIN DES VOIX” in 2007, where she maintained a special focus the Early and Baroque repertoire. The participation paved the way for appearances at venues such as Glyndebourne, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and at The Proms in London.

Sonya won several renowned international competitions, including the top prize and the special CultureArte prize at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition (2010). Moreover, she was honored as the Newcomer of the Year (Singer) at the 2015 ECHO Klassik Awards.

Since then, Sonya has become a permanent fixture on the most important stages of the world – past engagement have featured her in several of iconic roles for which she received tremendous acclaim from critics and audiences alike, celebrated for her distinctly beautiful voice and exceptional dramatic presence.
