SCYTHE is steeped in seventies symphonic prog. The band draw from a wide variety of influences without one of them dominating their compositional approach. Therefore, their sound remains fresh and original while at the same time recalling the great days of progressive rock. There are plenty of influences from GENESIS and YES. The music does have a modern feel and recording quality to it. SCYTHE play what they themselves call "symphonic progressive rock with an edge". Some favourites of the band members are: KING CRIMSON, MARILLION, PETER HAMMIL, JETHRO TULL.
"Divorced Land" is a great album. It is sonically inventive, imaginative and one of the most interesting new progressive releases. It is overflowing with great musicianship, great writing, poignant melodies, and insightful lyrics that are delivered to you with great power and heart. Check it out.
