Italian avant-garde composer, Salvatore Sciarrino's masterpiece for Voice, Cello & Piano. Vanitas vanitatum omnia vanitas…
I've been a curious onlooker at the avant-garde section for a few months now, and I've decided it is high time I start earning my keep. To be frank, I've been a little intimidated by the articulate, thoroughly planned postings here, as well as the audiophilic standards. Nonetheless, my first post is Salvatore Sciarrino's fifty minute long piece, Vanitas for voice, cello, and piano. Sciarrino is a composer who tests the limits of the listeners' perceptions through isolated sonorities and frequent silences. His vocal music is especially colorful, with the constantly beckoning concept of madrigalism as a compositional principle, and constantly tests the limits of current extended playing techniques.

Take it easy on me, this is my first post. I hope to add much more music, including Sciarrino, Lachenmann, Harvey, Greenbaum, Hanna, Saariaho, Grisey, Murail, Ablinger, and Spahlinger. Sorry, the vast majority of my posts will either be in MP3 or AAC.
